2021 SCHEDULE PORT OF KINGSTON MOORAGE MAP
We are thrilled to announce that we're moving the start/finish and overnight moorage from Edmonds to Kingston.
We decided to move the race to Kingston to make this race more social. The Port of Kingston is reserving all of their guest dock for us on Friday and Saturday nights, plus their large event tent on the adjacent lawn. The Kingston Cove Yacht Club is hosting us on Friday and Saturday nights at their nearby clubhouse and supporting the race. Downtown Kingston is a short walk away, with a variety of restaurants and bars. The Edmonds-Kingston ferry terminal is right next to the marina.
The Port of Edmonds will continue to reserve some guest moorage for those who want to keep their boats overnight and make the trip to Kingston in the morning.
This is a mid-distance race with multiple course options that include some or all of the following: start/finish at Apple Cove Point at Kingston, the Foulweather Bluff buoy, the Scatchet Head buoy on the south end of Whidbey Island, and a temporary mark at Edmonds north of the ferry terminal. Additional marks may be added.
The first division starts at 10:00 AM with a reverse starting sequence and multi-hulls in the last start. Yachts are divided into "long" and "short" course boats based on whether their PHRF-NW rating is 180 or lower, or 181 or above, respectively. Scoring is Time on Time. You must have a current PHRF-NW membership or an ORC certificate to be scored in this race.
You have two choices for moorage on Friday and Saturday nights: near the start/finish at Kingston or in Edmonds for those who don't want to stay overnight in Kingston. Either way, you arrange and pay for moorage directly with the marina.
FOULWEATHER BLUFF RACE IS NOW A PUGET SOUND TOP 25 QUALIFYING RACE.
Trophies include 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division, plus first overall long and short course, and the perpetual Bill Heston Performance trophy is awarded to the first place overall monohull winner.
This race is also a team event. The Grand Perpetual Foulweather Bluff team trophy is awarded to the yacht club with the best four boats combined finishes.
Weather and currents play big roles in this race. As usual, Bruce Hedrick will write about both for this race beforehand. Tune into Bruce's Briefs a few days before.
The earlybird deadline for registration was September 17, 2021.
A limited number of Foulweather Bluff Shirts are available for purchase onsite during race weekend with cash/card.
